19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
